Yield 2 quarts

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (3 ounce) package lime gelatin
1 cup boiling water
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 (6 ounce) can frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
1 dash salt
1 quart milk
1 pint half-and-half cream
8 drops green food coloring (optional)

  • In a large bowl, dissolve gelatin in water.
  • Add sugar, limeade and salt; mix until sugar is dissolved.

Tips:

  • For a smoother sherbet, use a blender or food processor to blend the ingredients until they are completely smooth.
  • If you don't have a blender or food processor, you can use a whisk to blend the ingredients together. However, this will take longer and the sherbet may not be as smooth.
  • To make the sherbet more flavorful, add a teaspoon of lime zest to the mixture before freezing.
  • If you want a sweeter sherbet, add an extra tablespoon of sugar to the mixture before freezing.
  • Be sure to freeze the sherbet for at least 3 hours before serving. This will allow the sherbet to fully set and become firm.
  • When you're ready to serve the sherbet, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly.
