Time 1h

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup short-grain rice (arborio is best)
4 cups homogenized milk
1/3 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup sultana raisin
1 teaspoon vanilla
cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a large, heavy saucepan, combine rice, milk, sugar and salt. Bring just to a boil, stirring often.
  • Reduce heat to very low, add raisins, cover and simmer very gently, stirring occasionally, for about 50 minutes or until rice is very tender and pudding is thickened and creamy (it will thicken more as it cools).
  • Stir in vanilla.
  • Remove from heat and let stand, uncovered until just warm, stirring occasionally (pudding may also be served cold).
  • Transfer to dessert dishes and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the quality of your ingredients, the better your rice pudding will be. Use whole milk, heavy cream, and real vanilla extract for the best flavor.
  • Cook the rice slowly and carefully: Don't rush the cooking process. Cook the rice over low heat, stirring constantly, until it is tender and creamy.
  • Let the rice pudding cool slowly: Once the rice pudding is cooked, let it cool slowly in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. This will help the flavors to develop and the pudding to thicken.
  • Serve the rice pudding chilled: Rice pudding is best served chilled. You can garnish it with whipped cream, fresh berries, or nuts.

Conclusion:

Rice pudding is a classic dessert that is easy to make and loved by people of all ages. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make a creamy and delicious rice pudding that will be the perfect ending to any meal.
