1/2 cup butter-flavored shortening
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
Halved maraschino cherries or candied cherries

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, cream the shortening, cream cheese and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla. Combine flour and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well., Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 in. apart onto greased baking sheets. Top each with a cherry half. Bake at 350° for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool for 1 minute before removing to wire racks.

2- 8 oz. pkg cream cheese
1 c sugar
1/2 c packed brown sugar
2 can(s) 8 oz. crescent dinner rolls
1 egg yoke
1 c chopped pecans
2 Tbsp butter, melted
2 tsp cinnamon
powdered sugar if desired
1 tsp vanilla

Steps:

  • 1. In large bowl beat cream cheese and white sugar with electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy. Add egg yoke and vanilla. Beat on low speed until blended.
  • 2. Unroll 1 can of dough into 1 large rectangle. Press seams and perforations to seal. Press onto bottom of ungreased 13x9 inch glass baking dish.
  • 3. Spread with cream cheese mixture. In small bowl, mix pecans, brown sugar, butter and cinnamon. Sprinkle half the pecan mixture over the cream cheese layer.
  • 4. On lightly floured surface, press or roll out remaining dough into 13x9 inch rectangle. Place over filling. Sprinkle remaining pecan mixture over top.
  • 5. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 munutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly on cooling rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cover and refrigerate leftovers.

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350.

18 oz. cream cheese
1/2 lb. sweet butter
2 c flour
2 iggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup plus 2 tblsp sugar

Steps:

  • Blend 6 oz. cream cheese with 2 sticks butter. Add 2 c flour in fourths. Pinch off dough and roll into small balls. Drop one ball into each cup of a mini muffin tin. Press dough with finger against side and bottom to form cup. Soften 12 oz. cream cheese, then cream well. Add vanilla and 2 unbeaten eggs and sugar. But til very creamy. Spoon cream cheese mixture into dough-lined cups, but not to top. Bake 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes. Cool. Remove from pan. Decorate with a dot of jam of your choice.
