Time 33m

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 package (17 1/3 Oz. Size) Puff Pastry Sheets
8 oz. weight Cream Cheese
1/4 c. Sugar
1 Egg Yolk
1 tsp. Lemon Juice
1/2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
1/4 tsp. Almond Extract
1 whole Egg
1 tbsp. Water
1 pinch Fine Sea Salt

Steps:

  • Remove puff pastry sheets from the freezer and packaging. Place on counter to thaw for 40 minutes. Meanwhile, let cream cheese and eggs come to room temperature. Line two cookie sheets with parchment. Set oven rack to the middle and upper third of the oven. Preheat oven to 400ºF. In the last 5 minutes of the pastry thawing time, make the cream cheese mixture. Beat the cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, lemon juice, and extracts on medium-low speed until combined. Scrape bottom and sides of the bowl. Increase speed to medium-high and beat until completely smooth. Roll the puff pastry sheets lightly to smooth the fold lines. Use a pizza or pastry cutter to cut into four squares. Place 4 squares on each baking sheet. Whisk the egg, water, and salt together. Brush egg wash onto the border of each square. Fold in the corners of the squares. Dollop 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture in the middle of each pastry. Brush any exposed pastry dough with the egg wash. Bake for 18 minutes, rotating the sheets at around 10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets onto wire racks Let cool at least 10 minutes before serving. The centers will deflate slightly as they cool. Serve warm or at room temperature.

EASY BLACKBERRY AND CREAM CHEESE DANISH RECIPE

Easy Blackberry and Cream Cheese Danish Recipe image

A flaky, buttery croissant - braided and stuffed with cream cheese and blackberries.

Provided by Camille Beckstrand

Categories     Breakfast

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 10

8 ounces cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 Tablespoon flour
8 ounce tube Pillsbury Crescent rolls (or crescent roll sheet)
21 ounces blackberry pie filling
1 cup fresh blackberries
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons heavy cream
1/8 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • In a small bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and flour. Set aside.
  • Open crescent roll dough and unroll, leaving crescents all together in one large rectangle
  • On an ungreased baking sheet, lay the crescent roll rectangle. The dough should be almost the entire length of a half sheet pan. (If you're not using a crescent roll sheet, be sure to press edges together to even out edges and seal any holes.)
  • Cut 1/2 inch diagonal strips up each side of the dough.
  • Carefully spread cream cheese filling down the center of the dough to be about 2-3 inches wide. Top with blackberry pie filling or fresh blackberries (or both). You may not need to use the whole can, just enough to cover it well.
  • Fold 1/2 inch dough pieces up over filling alternating sides to get a braided pattern. You may have excess dough once you reach the end of the danish, so fold them in as best as you can.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until filling is set and crescent dough is golden in color. Cool before removing from baking sheet.
  • Once danish has cooled, remove to serving platter.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality cream cheese: This will make a big difference in the overall flavor of the casserole. Look for a cream cheese that is smooth and spreadable.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing can make the casserole tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Don't overcook the casserole: The casserole is done when the center is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Overcooking can make the casserole dry.
  • Serve the casserole warm: The casserole is best served warm, but it can also be served cold. If you are serving it cold, let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving.

Conclusion:

The cream cheese danish casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or brunch dish. It is perfect for a crowd and can be made ahead of time. The casserole is also a great way to use up leftover cream cheese. With its creamy texture and sweet and tangy flavor, the cream cheese danish casserole is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
