CREAM CHEESE COFFEE CAKE, PENZEY'S

Cream Cheese Coffee Cake, Penzey's image

Simple and delicious, this coffee cake is great served warm, or refrigerated and served cold. The recipe came from an older Penzey's spice catalog. Uses frozen puff pastry. Makes a great dessert. Tips:

  • Soften your cream cheese: Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature before you start baking. This will help it blend smoothly with the other ingredients and create a creamy, consistent batter.
  • Use quality coffee: The coffee flavor is a key component of this cake, so be sure to use a high-quality coffee that you enjoy. You can use brewed coffee, instant coffee, or espresso powder, depending on your preference.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough, dense cake. Mix just until the ingredients are combined and no streaks of flour remain.
  • Bake the cake in a loaf pan: A loaf pan is the best shape for this cake, as it allows the cake to bake evenly and prevents it from becoming too dry.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting it: This will help to prevent the frosting from melting and running off the cake.

Conclusion:

Cream cheese coffee cake is a delicious and versatile dessert that can be enjoyed for breakfast, brunch, or as an afternoon snack. With its moist, flavorful crumb and creamy, tangy frosting, this cake is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
