Yield 8-12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 (12 ounce) bag frozen cranberries, thawed
1 (10 ounce) package frozen strawberries, thawed
1/2 cup sugar

Steps:

  • After thawing cranberries and strawberries, reserve the liquid and add enough water to make 1 cup.
  • In a saucepan, combine this liquid with sugar. Cook until dissolved.
  • Add cranberries to pan. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring occasionlly, until berries pop and mixture thickens.
  • Remove from heat, and stir in strawberries.
  • Let cool
  • Refrigerate at least 3 hours or overnight to give time for flavors to meld.

Tips:

  • Use Fresh Cranberries and Strawberries: Fresh berries yield the best flavor and texture. If using frozen berries, thaw them completely before using.
  • Choose Ripe Berries: Look for berries that are plump, brightly colored, and free of blemishes.
  • Don't Overcook the Sauce: Cook the sauce just until the berries are softened and the sauce has thickened. Overcooked sauce will be too thick and lose its vibrant color.
  • Add a Touch of Citrus: A squeeze of lemon or orange juice can brighten up the flavor of the sauce.
  • Use Cinnamon and Nutmeg: These spices add warmth and depth of flavor to the sauce.
  • Serve Warm or Cold: Cranberry strawberry sauce is delicious served warm over pancakes, waffles, or French toast. It can also be served cold as a topping for ice cream or yogurt.

Conclusion:

Cranberry strawberry sauce is a versatile and delicious sauce that can be enjoyed in many ways. It's perfect for holiday meals, brunch, or as a topping for your favorite desserts.
