Time 20m

Yield 3 1/2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 1/2 cups cranberries (fresh or frozen)
3 cups unsweetened raspberries (fresh or frozen)
3/4 cup cranberry juice cocktail
1/2 cup lightly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients (except almond extract) in a medium saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil& boil gently for 15 minutes or until fruit is softened.
  • Remove from heat, puree in a food processor or blender until smooth.
  • Stir in almond extract.
  • Pour into sterilized jars& allow to cool.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh cranberries: Look for plump, firm cranberries that are deep red in color. Avoid any cranberries that are bruised or have soft spots.
  • Use a variety of spices: This recipe uses a combination of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and allspice. You can also add other spices, such as ginger or cardamom, to taste.
  • Don't overcook the sauce: Cranberry sauce should be cooked just until the cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened. Overcooking will make the sauce bitter.
  • Let the sauce cool before serving: This will allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken further.
  • Serve cranberry sauce with your favorite holiday dishes: It's a classic accompaniment to roasted turkey, ham, or chicken.

Conclusion:

This cranberry sauce with raspberry vinegar is a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any holiday meal. The combination of cranberries, raspberry vinegar, and spices creates a unique and flavorful sauce that is sure to please everyone at the table.
