Time 2h5m

Number Of Ingredients 13

4 lbs. of pork spareribs
for the marinade
½ cup cranberry juice
½ cup orange juice
¼ cup ketchup
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup water
¼ cup vinegar (any kind)
1 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. ground curry
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. black pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Combine all of the ingredients for the marinade in a bowl and stir. Place ribs in the marinade and refrigerate for at least one hour or more or up to overnight. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Place the ribs in a roasting pan with the marinade. Bake uncovered for 2 - 2 ½ hours or until the ribs are fall off the bone tender. Allow the marinade to evaporate in the cooking process. Let the ribs cool slightly; then separate the ribs with a cooking scissor and plate.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs: Select high-quality pork spare ribs for the best flavor and texture. Look for ribs that are thick and meaty, with a good amount of marbling.
  • Prepare the ribs properly: Before cooking, remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. This will help the ribs cook more evenly and will make them more tender.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: The marinade is key to infusing the ribs with flavor. Use a combination of spices, herbs, and liquids to create a marinade that complements the pork ribs.
  • Cook the ribs low and slow: The best way to cook spare ribs is low and slow. This will allow the ribs to cook evenly and will help them develop a tender, fall-off-the-bone texture.
  • Baste the ribs regularly: While the ribs are cooking, baste them every 30 minutes or so with the marinade or a mixture of fruit juice and spices. This will help keep the ribs moist and flavorful.
  • Let the ribs rest before serving: Once the ribs are cooked, let them rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the meat, making them even more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

With these tips in mind, you can make delicious and flavorful cranberry and orange juice spare ribs at home. This recipe is perfect for a special occasion or a casual family dinner. Serve the ribs with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or coleslaw for a complete and satisfying meal.
