SEAFOOD SALAD WITH SHRIMP AND CRAB

Seafood Salad With Shrimp and Crab image

This is my favorite spring and summer salad. It's a great opening act for any seafood dinner and it makes a really good snack or appetizer. I like it with Captain's Wafers. After mixing it, I pack it into individual 1 cup containers so it's ready to grab and go. I take it to work for lunch quite often. Cooking time is chilling time.

Time 10m

Yield 24 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

3/4 lb seafood or 3/4 lb crab, salad (already prepared at your local deli/seafood counter)
3 ounces cream cheese
seafood cocktail sauce
cracker, assortment

Steps:

  • Mix cream cheese and seafood salad.
  • On a dinner sized plate, mold mixture into a ring, leaving room on outside of ring for crackers.
  • Pour cocktail sauce in the middle of ring.
  • Chill until served.
  • Arrange cracker assortment around plate, outside of salad ring.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality crab meat. Fresh or frozen crab meat is best, but canned crab meat can also be used if it is drained well and flaked before adding to the salad.
  • Use a variety of vegetables. Celery, red onion, bell pepper, and cucumber are all classic additions to crab salad, but you can also add other vegetables such as avocado, corn, or peas.
  • Add some herbs and spices. Fresh herbs such as parsley, dill, or chives can brighten up the salad, while spices such as Old Bay seasoning or lemon pepper can add a bit of flavor.
  • Use a light dressing. A mayonnaise-based dressing is traditional, but you can also use a vinaigrette or yogurt-based dressing if you prefer. Be sure to use just enough dressing to coat the salad, so that the flavors of the crab and vegetables can shine through.
  • Chill the salad before serving. This will help the flavors to meld and make the salad more refreshing.

Conclusion:

Crab salad is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed as an appetizer, main course, or side dish. With its combination of crab meat, vegetables, and dressing, it is a seafood salad that is sure to please everyone.
