Categories     Salad     Pasta

Number Of Ingredients 10

1-16oz BOX OF ELBOW MACARONI (DRAIN WELL AFTER COOKING!)
1-lb LUMP CRABMEAT
1 lb OF SEASONED SHRIMP
(THE MARKET WILL STEAM & SEASON FREE)
1/2 LARGE GREEN PEPPER (DICED)
1/2 LARGE RED PEPPER (DICED)
2 STALKS OF CELERY (DICED)
1 CARROT (SHREDDED)
1 MEDIUM CUCUMBER (PEELED & SHREDDED)
FRESH DILL

Steps:

  • MIX ALL INGREDIENTS EXCEPT CRAB MEAT. SEASON WITH PEPPER AND VERY LITTLE SALT. MIX WITH MAYONNAISE. FOLD IN CRAB MEAT; DO NOT STIR A LOT OR CRAB MEAT WILL DISAPPEAR.

Tips:

  • Use fresh seafood: Fresh crab and shrimp will give your macaroni salad the best flavor. If you can't find fresh seafood, you can use frozen seafood that has been thawed and drained.
  • Cook the seafood properly: Crab and shrimp should be cooked until they are just opaque. Overcooked seafood will be tough and chewy.
  • Use a good quality mayonnaise: The mayonnaise is the base of the macaroni salad, so it's important to use a good quality mayonnaise that you enjoy the taste of.
  • Don't overdress the macaroni salad: You want the macaroni salad to be creamy, but not too heavy. Add the mayonnaise a little at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
  • Chill the macaroni salad before serving: This will help the flavors to meld and the salad will be more refreshing.

Conclusion:

Crab and shrimp macaroni salad is a classic summer dish that is perfect for potlucks, picnics, and backyard barbecues. It's easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its creamy texture, sweet and savory flavors, and colorful appearance, crab and shrimp macaroni salad is sure to be a hit at your next gathering.
