Tips:

  • Use fresh, seasonal vegetables: Fresh vegetables have the best flavor and texture, and they'll make your casserole more nutritious. When vegetables are in season, they're also more affordable.
  • Don't overcook the vegetables: Overcooked vegetables will become mushy and lose their flavor. Cook them just until they're tender-crisp.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: The more vegetables you use, the more flavorful and nutritious your casserole will be. Some good options include corn, green beans, carrots, celery, and peas.
  • Use a good quality cheese: The cheese is one of the most important ingredients in a vegetable casserole. Use a cheese that melts well and has a good flavor. Some good options include cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan.
  • Season the casserole well: Salt and pepper are essential seasonings for any casserole. You can also add other herbs and spices, such as garlic, onion, and paprika.
  • Top the casserole with a crispy topping: A crispy topping will add texture and flavor to your casserole. Some good options include breadcrumbs, crushed crackers, or grated Parmesan cheese.
