Tips:

  • Use fresh corn. Fresh corn will give your spoon bread a sweeter, more flavorful taste. If you don't have fresh corn, you can use frozen corn, but be sure to thaw it completely before using.
  • Use a cast iron skillet. A cast iron skillet will help to create a crispy crust on the outside of your spoon bread. If you don't have a cast iron skillet, you can use a regular baking dish, but your spoon bread may not be as crispy.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter will make your spoon bread tough. Stir just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the spoon bread until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. This will usually take about 30 minutes.

Conclusion:

Corn spoon bread is a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It can be served with roasted chicken, pork, or fish, or it can be enjoyed on its own. This recipe is a great starting point, but you can feel free to experiment with different ingredients to create your own unique spoon bread.
