CORNFLAKE PIE

Cornflake Pie image

This is an older recipe I can remember my mom making. I don't know where mom got the recipe (it's in her own writing), but she made it often judging by the spatters. For a change, I've filled the pie with Jello pudding and pie filling (the kind you cook on the stove) and top w' whipped cream. Cooking time is an estimate (I haven't made this myself in a while).

Tips:

  • Use fresh cornflakes: Fresh cornflakes will give you a more flavorful and crispy crust. Avoid using stale or crushed cornflakes.
  • Pack the cornflakes tightly: When you're pressing the cornflakes into the pie pan, make sure to pack them tightly so that they form a solid crust. This will help to prevent the crust from crumbling.
  • Use a little bit of sugar: Adding a little bit of sugar to the cornflake crumbs will help to caramelize them and give the crust a golden brown color.
  • Don't overbake the crust: Cornflake crumbs crusts can easily overbake, so keep an eye on them in the oven. The crust is done when it is golden brown and firm to the touch.
  • Let the crust cool completely before filling it: Once the crust is baked, let it cool completely before filling it. This will help to prevent the filling from making the crust soggy.

Conclusion:

Cornflake crumbs crusts are a delicious and easy way to make a pie crust. They're perfect for both sweet and savory pies, and they're a great way to use up leftover cornflakes. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make a delicious and flaky cornflake crumbs crust that will impress your friends and family.
