Number Of Ingredients 9

1 tablespoon salt
2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon Accent seasoning (optional)
1 pound ground chuck
8 hamburger buns
2 tablespoons dehydrated onions
16 dill pickle slices
4 tablespoons ketchup
3 tablespoons mustard

Steps:

  • Combine salt, pepper, and accent in a small bowl. Use this to season the meat. You will not use all of this. You can store the remaining and use another time.
  • Place the dehydrated onions into a small bowl and add 2 tablespoons of warm water. These will hydrate and be ready by the time you finish cooking the burgers.
  • For this recipe I like to use a griddle, it is important for the juices to float away from the burger while cooking. If you do not have one, you can use a very large skillet. Preheat the griddle to 375 degrees.
  • Form 8 small round patties with the ground chuck. Place the patties on the hot grill. Use a spatula and press the patty into the grill for 4 to 5 seconds to sear in the juices.
  • You know you have pressed the patty into the grill hard enough when you have to scrape it from the griddle. Season the patties liberally.
  • Cook the patties on both sides. When you flip the burger, season the other side well. When the burgers are done place the buns on the hot griddle and toast the buns until they begin to brown.
  • To assemble the burgers you will want to place 5 small squirts of mustard on the bottom bun. Follow the mustard with 5 larger squirts of ketchup. Add some onions, and a dill pickle slice or two. Place the hamburger patty on top of the pickle. Place the top bun on top of meat patty.
  • If you would like to make a McDonald's cheeseburger, simply add a slice of American cheese to the burger patty once you have flipped it over. Cook for another minute or so, and remove from the grill. Dress the burger with ketchup, mustard, pickle slices and onion.

COPYCAT MC DONALD'S HAMBURGERS/CHEESEBURGERS

Copycat Mc Donald's Hamburgers/Cheeseburgers image

My friend found this for me(when I was having a McDonalds burger obsession) in one of her cookbooks and it's delicious.

Categories     Meat

Time 15m

Yield 1 burger or cheeseburger

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 teaspoon dried onion flakes
2 teaspoons boiling water
1/8 lb ground beef (I have used extremely lean ground beef for this, like 5% fat kind)
1 plain hamburger bun (I use Hot Dog/Hamburger Buns/Rolls/Cinnamon Buns Dough Cycle A.b.m.)
salt, to taste
1 tablespoon ketchup
1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard (American yellow)
1 dill pickle, slice (sour kind, not sweet)
1 slice American cheese (I have used those plastic cover cheese singles with good success if other American Cheese is unavail)

Steps:

  • Mix the dried onion with the boiling water and let sit until re hydrated and no longer dry & crunchy.
  • Roll ground beef into a ball and press flat on waxed paper until about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Brown faces of bun in a dry frying pan over medium heat. Remove bun and cook burger in the same pan for 2 min per side, salting each side lightly during cooking.
  • On the top bun-half spread the ketchup, mustard, and onion, in the order, and top with the pickle slice.
  • put the beef patty on the bottom bun and quickly slap the top and bottom together. Microwave the burger on high for 10-15 seconds. FOR CHEESEBURGERS: follow the above recipe, but add a slice of American cheese on top of the beef patty in the final assembly. Microwave for 15 seconds on high to help steam the bun and simulate being wrapped in paper.

Tips:

  • To achieve the signature McDonald's flavor, use a blend of chuck and sirloin ground beef.
  • Season the patties generously with salt and pepper. The right amount of seasoning enhances the beef's natural flavor.
  • Form the patties into thin, uniform circles. This ensures even cooking and a crispy exterior.
  • Use a flat-top griddle or a well-seasoned cast iron skillet for cooking the burgers. A hot, evenly heated surface creates the classic grill marks.
  • Cook the burgers over medium-high heat. This sears the outside quickly, locking in the juices and preventing the burgers from drying out.
  • Flip the burgers only once during cooking. Excessive flipping can result in dry, tough patties.
  • For a juicy, medium-rare burger, cook it to an internal temperature of 135°F (57°C). For a well-done burger, cook it to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  • Toast the buns in a toaster or on the griddle. Toasted buns hold up better to the burger's juices and provide a slightly crispy texture.
  • Add your favorite toppings, such as cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and ketchup. Experiment with different combinations to find your perfect burger.
