BETTER THAN KFC COLESLAW

Better Than KFC Coleslaw image

You can make homemade coleslaw that tastes even better than KFC with this easy recipe.

Provided by Stephanie Manley

Categories     Side Dish

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 8

13 cups chopped cabbage (This is about 1 large head of cabbage or 2 medium heads of cabbage)
1 green bell pepper ( (optional, there is no bell pepper in the KFC recipe))
1/2 cup choped onion
1/2 cup chopped carrot (1 medium size carrot)
2 cups Miracle Whip Light
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Steps:

  • If you are lucky enough to have a food processor, get it out of your cupboard. Start to cut up the cabbage and place it in the processor. While cutting up the cabbage, also cut up small slices of green pepper, onion, and carrot and add to the processor.
  • Mixing up the ingredients this way will help distribute the flavors throughout the slaw. You may want to use a little less of the onion, or green bell pepper, but do use all of the carrot.
  • If you do not have a food processor, no problem, simply chop the cabbage, onions, and carrots into small pieces. Add chopped green bell pepper if desired.
  • Now mix Miracle Whip, vinegar, oil, and sugar until you have a smooth mixture. The taste should be sweet with just a hint of vinegar.
  • Amount of dressing may be increased or decreased according to the amount of slaw you are making. Add to cut up veggies and mix well. Let stand at least one hour to let flavors mix.

KFC COLESLAW RECIPE

KFC Coleslaw Recipe image

This KFC Coleslaw Recipe is as close as you can get without actually ordering it from the restaurant directly. The taste is simply perfect!

Provided by Amy

Categories     Side Dish

Time 12h20m

Number Of Ingredients 11

8 cups finely chopped cabbage
1/4 cup finely chopped carrot
2 1/2 tablespoons very finely minced yellow onion
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup whole milk
1/4 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 1/2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground pepper

Steps:

  • Chop the vegetables very fine: the cabbage, carrots, and onions are all chopped very fine, almost like the size of rice. You can chop them with a sharp knife, or if you have a food processor with a shredding attachment, use that and then finely chop with a sharp knife. (See note about using a pre-shredded coleslaw mix.)
  • In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients for the dressing. Whisk until smooth.
  • Add in cabbage, carrots, and onion; mix well until everything is thoroughly coated.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight. (If you have time - and can remember! - stir it occasionally. This will give you the absolute best results.) Stir again before serving and enjoy!

COPYCAT KFC COLESLAW: THE REAL THING

Copycat KFC Coleslaw: the Real Thing image

I am an avid collector of recipes. A young lady, a former KFC employee, was looking at my recipes one evening when she discovered this one. She told me that the recipe was close, but that I should remove the vinegar and lemon juice and replace them with tarragon vinegar. Tarragon vinegar is the secret. Note: This is one of the recipes I adopted in the Great 'Zaar Orphan Adoption of 2005. I hope you enjoy it.

KENTUCKY COLESLAW

Kentucky Coleslaw image

We love going to Kentucky Fried Chicken. Although we enjoy the chicken, we actually go for the coleslaw. We buy several pints at a time. I make several versions of cole slaw but we sometime just want this. I tried for several years before getting this recipe right. I think I have figured it out now.If you are in a hurry get a bag of the preshredded slaw mix. It is not quite as good as grating it yourself though. -Donna Gribbins, Shelbyville, Kentucky
