OREO TRUFFLES

Categories     Candy

Time 1h

Yield 40 truffles (approximately)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 lb Oreo cookies (3 sleeves)
8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (using different extracts allows for subtle flavour changes...I've used mint extract, upped to 1 tsp) (optional)
1 lb milk chocolate
1/2 lb white chocolate

Steps:

  • Using a food processor, grind cookies to a fine powder. With a mixer, blend cookie powder, cream cheese and vanilla extract until thoroughly mixed (there should be no white traces of cream cheese).
  • Roll into small balls and place on wax-lined cookie sheet. Refrigerate for 45 minutes.
  • Line two cookie sheets with wax paper. In double-boiler, melt milk chocolate. Dip balls and coat thoroughly. With slotted spoon, lift balls out of chocolate and let excess chocolate drip off. Place on wax-paper-lined cookie sheet.
  • In separate double boiler, melt white chocolate. Using a fork, drizzle white chocolate over balls. Let cool.
  • Store in airtight container, in refrigerator.
  • Note: When I am exceedingly lazy (most often the case these days), I forego the chocolate 'dip' and merely roll my truffles into various mixtures - chopped nuts, chocolate sprinkles, vari-coloured candy sprinkles, cocoa powder, chocolate shavings, coloured sugars -- still pretty -- less work.

Provided by Oreo

Categories     Trusted Brands: Recipes and Tips     OREO®

Time 1h45m

Yield 48

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed
16 ounces semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted

Steps:

  • Mix cream cheese and cookie crumbs until well blended.
  • Shape into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan.
  • Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor. A good semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate will work well.
  • Make sure the cream is very cold before whipping it. This will help it whip up quickly and smoothly.
  • Don't over-whip the cream. It should be stiff but still fluffy.
  • If you don't have a piping bag, you can use a zip-top bag with the corner snipped off.
  • If the truffle balls are too soft, chill them for a bit longer.
  • Store the truffle balls in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

These Cookies and Cream Truffle Balls are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. They are made with just a few simple ingredients and can be customized to your liking. So next time you are looking for a sweet treat, give these truffle balls a try!
