Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Yukon Gold potatoes are the best choice for these rolls, as they are fluffy and have a mild flavor. Russet potatoes can also be used, but they will result in a denser roll.
  • Cook the potatoes correctly: The potatoes should be cooked until they are tender but not mushy. If they are overcooked, the rolls will be gummy.
  • Use a good quality bread flour: Bread flour has a higher protein content than all-purpose flour, which will result in a more chewy roll.
  • Proof the dough properly: The dough should be proofed in a warm place until it has doubled in size. This will ensure that the rolls are light and airy.
  • Bake the rolls at a high temperature: The rolls should be baked at a high temperature (400°F) for the first 10 minutes, then the temperature should be reduced to 350°F for the remaining baking time. This will create a crispy crust and a soft interior.

Conclusion:

These potato pan rolls are a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. They are soft and fluffy on the inside, with a crispy crust on the outside. The addition of mashed potatoes gives them a unique flavor and texture that is sure to please everyone at the table.
