Time 1h45m

Yield 16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb sausage (I use Jimmy Dean)
24 ounces frozen hash browns, with onion and peppers
6 eggs
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 tsp.black pepper
1 dash hot sauce (optional)
8 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded (more for the topping if desired)

Steps:

  • Set oven to 350°F.
  • Brown the sausage, drain. I like to put it in a food processor and hit pulse a few times, I don't like the larger pieces but don't go so far as to make a paste!
  • Whisk the eggs and seasonings in a bowl,.
  • add milk.
  • Spray a 9x13" pan with cooking spray.
  • Layer the ingredients as follows; all the sausage, then a layer of cheese, then half the bag of hash browns, then the cheese and the rest of the hash browns. Pour the egg/milk/ seasonings mixture over all.
  • Cover with foil bake for one hour, check for doneness, mine usually take a bit longer, but everyone's oven is different.
  • When done top with more shredded cheese and let rest for 10 minutes.
  • Serve with fruit salad for a delightful brunch!

I first had this at an in-laws! I'm not sure where she got the recipe, but I'm assuming it was from Company's Coming. I omit the green peppers as they don't agree with me. Great with fresh fruit. It has also been called "Christmas Morning Wife Saver".

4 slice bread
1 lb bulk sausage
1/4 c butter, melted
6 eggs
1 c cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 c milk
1 tsp minced onion (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Spray a 13x9" pan with cooking spray. Place the cubed bread in bottom of pan and pour melted butter over cubed bread.

  • 3. Chill overnight. Bake in a 375-degree oven for 35 minutes. Serve with half a grapefruit or some fresh berries for a delicious "company" breakfast.

Tips:

  • Keep it simple: Don't try to make anything too complicated, especially if you're short on time. Simple dishes like oatmeal, yogurt parfaits, or smoothies can be just as satisfying and nutritious as more elaborate meals.
  • Make it a group effort: If you have family or roommates, get them involved in making breakfast. This is a great way to spend time together and make the meal more enjoyable.
  • Use leftovers: Leftover chicken, fish, or vegetables can be easily turned into a quick and easy breakfast scramble or stir-fry. Leftover rice can be used to make fried rice or congee.
  • Make a breakfast casserole or strata: These dishes can be made ahead of time and reheated in the morning. They're also a great way to use up leftover ingredients.
  • Choose healthy options: When choosing ingredients for your breakfast, focus on whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean protein. These foods will give you energy and keep you feeling full throughout the morning.

Conclusion:

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it's important to make sure you're getting a healthy and nutritious start to your day. By following these tips, you can make breakfast a quick, easy, and enjoyable experience that will help you stay energized and focused all morning long.
