THE BEST VINEGAR COLESLAW

The Best Vinegar Coleslaw image

We love the zippiness that a vinegar-based dressing brings to this coleslaw, making it the perfect partner for rich, meaty dishes like pulled pork or ribs. Cabbage can take lots of seasoning and lots of vinegar, so don't be bashful. But the real secret to this colorful coleslaw is the marinating time - a long trip to the fridge softens up the veggies and gives them time to absorb the flavors of the vinaigrette. A drizzle of olive oil at the end balances the acidity.

Tips:

  • For a more flavorful coleslaw, use a variety of cabbages and lettuces. Try a mix of green cabbage, red cabbage, savoy cabbage, and romaine lettuce.
  • Shred the cabbage and lettuce as thinly as possible. This will help the dressing to better coat the vegetables.
  • If you don't have a mandoline, you can use a sharp knife to shred the cabbage and lettuce. Just be careful to slice them as thinly as possible.
  • To make the hot caraway vinaigrette, simply whisk together the olive oil, vinegar, caraway seeds, sugar, salt, and pepper. If you don't have caraway seeds, you can substitute cumin or fennel seeds.
  • Toss the coleslaw with the dressing until it is evenly coated. You can serve it immediately or chill it for later.

Conclusion:

This coleslaw with hot caraway vinaigrette is a delicious and refreshing side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. So next time you are looking for a simple and delicious side dish, give this coleslaw a try.
