Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 cup butter
2 medium onions, chopped
2 (16 ounce) jars sauerkraut
1 (12 fluid ounce) can Coke
1/2 cup water (optional)

Steps:

  • Melt the butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Saute onions in butter until translucent. Stir in the sauerkraut and cola.

Tips:

  • Use a sharp knife to thinly slice the cabbage. This will help the sauerkraut ferment evenly.
  • Use a large fermentation crock or jar. This will give the sauerkraut plenty of room to ferment.
  • Make sure the sauerkraut is completely submerged in the brine. This will help prevent spoilage.
  • Keep the sauerkraut in a cool, dark place. This will help the fermentation process.
  • Stir the sauerkraut every few days. This will help distribute the bacteria and prevent the sauerkraut from becoming too sour.
  • Taste the sauerkraut regularly. When it has reached the desired flavor, it is ready to eat.

Conclusion:

Cola sauerkraut is a delicious and easy-to-make fermented food. It is a good source of probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that can help improve gut health. Cola sauerkraut can be enjoyed as a side dish, a condiment, or an ingredient in other dishes.
