Tips:

  • Use fresh coconut: Fresh coconut meat has a sweeter, more flavorful taste than dried or shredded coconut. If you can't find fresh coconut, you can use unsweetened shredded coconut, but the flavor will be less pronounced.
  • Toast the coconut: Toasting the coconut brings out its natural sweetness and flavor. You can toast the coconut in a pan over medium heat, or in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes.
  • Use a high-quality chocolate: The chocolate you use will make a big difference in the flavor of your coconut yums yums. Use a chocolate that is at least 70% cacao.
  • Chill the dough before baking: Chilling the dough before baking helps to prevent the cookies from spreading too much. You can chill the dough for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  • Bake the cookies until they are just set: The cookies should be slightly soft in the center when you take them out of the oven. If you bake them too long, they will be dry and crumbly.

Conclusion:

Coconut yum yums are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. They are a great way to use up leftover coconut, and they are also a fun project to do with kids. With a few simple tips, you can make coconut yum yums that are sure to be a hit.
