COCOA OATMEAL WITH DATES

Cocoa Oatmeal with Dates image

Now that the word is out that chocolate is good for you (BUT only if not mixed with milk) why not have it for breakfast? This makes a nice change of pace from plain oatmeal. Karl did not think this was sweet enough, but when he sprinkled a little brown sugar over he was happy. Serve with ricemilk or soymilk to get the full advantage of those cocoa flavinoids.

  • Use good quality cocoa powder: The cocoa powder is the key ingredient in this recipe, so make sure to use a good quality one. Look for a cocoa powder that is labeled "unsweetened" and "natural."
  • Don't overcook the oatmeal: Oatmeal can quickly become overcooked and mushy, so it's important to keep an eye on it while it's cooking. Cook the oatmeal for just a few minutes, stirring frequently, until it has reached your desired consistency.
