Steps:
- Lay club crackers in the bottom of a cookie sheet in a single layer. Bring butter and sugar to a boil and continue boiling for 3 minutes, stirring frequently. While sugar is boiling, sprinkle chopped nuts over crackers. Pour butter and sugar mix over crackers and nuts. Bake at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from pan, separating crackers at once and place on foil to cool.
Tips:
- Make sure to use unsalted butter for this recipe, as salted butter can make the squares too salty.
- If you don't have cream of tartar, you can substitute 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.
- Don't overmix the batter, as this can make the squares tough.
- Be sure to bake the squares until they are just set in the center, as overbaking can make them dry.
- Let the squares cool completely before cutting them into bars, as this will help them to hold their shape.
Conclusion:
Club cracker squares are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. They are made with just a few simple ingredients and can be customized to your liking. Whether you prefer them plain or with a variety of toppings, these squares are sure to be a hit. So next time you're looking for a sweet and satisfying snack, give club cracker squares a try.
