Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/8 c brown sugar, light
1/8 c stevia
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 Tbsp chopped almonds ( optional)
4 medium tart apples
3/4 c boiling water
1 pt nonfat vanilla frozen yougart

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Mix brown sugar and stevia together, add cinnamon, allspice, cloves and chopped almonds. Core apples and fill the cavities with the brown sugar mixture. Place the apples upright in the baking dish and pour the water around them. Bake until tender about 30 min. Transfer the apples to individual serving plates and serve with frozen yogurt.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: Use firm, tart apples such as Granny Smith, Braeburn, or Honeycrisp. These apples hold their shape well and won't become mushy when cooked.
  • Don't peel the apples: The skin of the apples adds flavor and texture to the dish. Just be sure to wash the apples thoroughly before using.
  • Use a variety of spices: In addition to cloves, you can also use cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, or allspice. Experiment with different combinations to find your favorite flavor profile.
  • Cook the apples slowly: This will allow the flavors to develop and the apples to become tender. Don't rush the process or the apples will become tough.
  • Serve the apples warm or cold: Clove-spiced apples can be served warm as a side dish or dessert, or cold as a snack or salad topping.

Conclusion:

Clove-spiced apples are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed in many different ways. They are a great way to use up leftover apples and they make a beautiful addition to any holiday table. So next time you're looking for a simple and delicious recipe, give clove-spiced apples a try.
