1 tablespoon onion (finely grated)
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup buttermilk (well shaken)
1/4 cup whole milk
1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
8 cups or 1-16 ounce bag coleslaw cabbage (finely diced)
1/4 cup carrot (shredded (omit if you're using bagged coleslaw mix))

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the first 9 ingredients until smooth and well combined. Add cabbage (8 cups) and carrot (1/4 cup) and mix until evenly coated.
  • Cover bowl and refrigerate 4 hours minimum or overnight. Stir well before serving.

8 c finely chopped cabbage (about 1 head)
1/4 c shredded carrot (1 medium carrot)
1/2 c mayonnaise
1/3 c granulated sugar
1/4 c milk (2% or skim)
1/4 c buttermilk
2 1/2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 Tbsp white vinegar or *tarragon wine vinegar
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
2 Tbsp finely minced onion
VINEGAR - HAVE LEARNED FROM RELIABLE SOURCE THAT TARRAGON WINE VINEGAR IS KFC'S SECRET!!!

Steps:

  • 1. Be sure cabbage and carrots are chopped/shredded into very fine pieces (about the size of rice)
  • 2. Combine the mayonnaise, sugar, milk, buttermilk, lemon juice, vinegar, salt & pepper in a large bowl and beat until smooth.
  • 3. Add the cabbage, carrots & onion and mix well.
