Yield This salad makes enough for about 15 people

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 pounds cabbage, shredded. You can use white/green or red (The shredding can be done in a food processor or by hand.)
2 carrots, sliced into disks about 1/4-inch thick
2 green peppers, cut into bite-size pieces
2 cucumbers, peeled and sliced
2 large vidalia onions, sliced (If vidalia onions are not available, use regular ones.)
4 teaspoons sugar dissolved in 1/4 cup warm water (Can substitute 4 packages of sweet and low.
Incidentally, it's just as tasty with the sweet and low.)
3/4 cup of white vinegar
1/2 cup of canola oil
About 1-1/2 teaspoons salt, garlic powder, celery salt, and pepper to taste
Marinate the above ingredients in the refrigerator. This salad can last for many weeks in the refrigerator

Steps:

  • The preparation takes a while as you're first cleaning and then cutting the vegetables. If you have a food processor, it cuts the time considerably to prepare this delicious salad.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will greatly impact the taste of your salad. Choose fresh, crisp vegetables, ripe fruit, and flavorful cheese.
  • Chop your ingredients evenly: This will help ensure that they cook evenly and that the salad is easy to eat.
  • Don't overdress the salad: A little dressing goes a long way. Too much dressing can overwhelm the other flavors in the salad.
  • Serve the salad immediately: Salads are best when they are served immediately after they are made. This will prevent the vegetables from wilting and the dressing from becoming watery.

Conclusion:

The Claremont salad is a delicious and refreshing salad that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own personal preferences. With its combination of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors, the Claremont salad is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
