1 large ruby pink grapefruit
3 navel oranges (or a combination of naval oranges, blood oranges, mandarin orange or tangerines)
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice or 2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

Let stand for 15 minutes or chill until ready to serve.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of citrus fruits for a more complex flavor. Some popular choices include oranges, grapefruits, lemons, limes, and mandarins.
  • For a sweeter salad, use sweeter citrus fruits like oranges and mandarins. If you prefer a tarter salad, use more tart fruits like lemons and grapefruits.
  • If you are using a citrus fruit with a thick rind, such as grapefruit, be sure to peel and remove the pith before cutting the fruit into segments.
  • To make the salad more refreshing, chill the citrus fruits before assembling the salad.
  • For a healthier salad, use fresh fruit instead of canned fruit. Canned fruit often contains added sugar and preservatives.
