Blueberry Bourbon Smash Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: light brown sugar, water, blueberry, ice, bourbon, lemon juice, blueberry simple syrup, ginger beer, lemon wedge

Provided by Betsy Carter

Categories     Drinks

Yield 1 serving

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup light brown sugar
1 cup water
1 pt blueberry, very ripe
ice
2 oz bourbon
1 oz lemon juice
1 oz blueberry simple syrup
ginger beer, to taste
lemon wedge, for garnish

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar completely.
  • Add the blueberries to the pot and boil until the berries begin to burst, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and cool for 5-10 minutes.
  • Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
  • In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds.
  • Strain into a glass filled with ice and top with ginger beer.
  • Garnish with lemon wedge.
  • Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use frozen blueberries: Frozen blueberries will help to keep the slush cold and slushy. If you only have fresh blueberries, you can freeze them for a few hours before making the slush.
  • Make sure your citrus fruits are peeled and juiced: The peel of citrus fruits can be bitter, so it's important to remove it before juicing. You can use a citrus juicer or a handheld juicer to extract the juice from the fruit.
  • Use sparkling water: Sparkling water will give the slush a light and refreshing口感. You can also use club soda or tonic water.
  • Add honey or sugar to taste: The amount of sweetener you add will depend on your personal preference. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.
  • Serve immediately: Citrus blueberry slush is best enjoyed immediately after it's made. The ice will start to melt and the slush will become less slushy the longer it sits.

Conclusion:

Citrus blueberry slush is a delicious and refreshing drink that's perfect for a hot summer day. It's easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With its bright citrus flavor and sweet blueberries, this slush is sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering.
