My daughter Paige and I were wondering what to do with slightly stale cereal. Instead of the same ole topping we used her cereal.

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 9

7-8 baking apples peeled and cut-up into small pieces
2 Tbsp lemon juice over apples for non-browning
1/4 c light brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/3 c flour
1/3 c sugar
1 1/2 c broken up cinnamon toast crunch cereal
4 Tbsp butter, cut-up in small pieces

Steps:

  • 1. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Butter 9 inch glass dish. Place in chopped apples. Mix all above ingredients except butter. Spread over apples. Place small pieces of butter over the cereal coating. Bake for 30-45 min. depending on your oven until topping is crunchy. Cool or serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of apples for a more complex flavor. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady are all good choices.
  • If you don't have a food processor, you can grate the apples by hand.
  • Be sure to drain the apples well after grating them. This will prevent the crisp from being too watery.
  • Use a generous amount of butter in the topping. This will help the crisp to brown and become crispy.
  • Don't overcook the crisp. The apples should be tender, but still hold their shape.

Conclusion:

This Cinnamon Toast Crunch Apple Crisp is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. The combination of sweet apples, crunchy cereal, and warm spices is irresistible. Serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a truly indulgent treat.
