Time 40m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 large sweet potatoes, unpeeled and scrubbed (about 1-1/2 lb)
1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil, melted butter or 1 1/2 tablespoons margarine
4 teaspoons maple syrup
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 pinch nutmeg

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425°F
  • Spray rimmed baking sheet with cooking spray.

  • Bake in centre of oven for 20 minutes.
  • Turn and brush with remaining maple syrup mixture.
  • Bake another 15 minutes or until tender.

Tips:

  • Choose the right sweet potatoes: Look for firm, unblemished sweet potatoes that are about the same size. This will help them cook evenly.
  • Cut the sweet potatoes into even-sized fries: This will help them cook evenly and prevent some from being overcooked while others are still undercooked.
  • Soak the sweet potato fries in cold water for 30 minutes before cooking: This will help them crisp up in the oven.
  • Toss the sweet potato fries with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper before baking: This will help them brown and add flavor.
  • Bake the sweet potato fries at a high temperature: This will help them crisp up quickly and prevent them from becoming soggy.
  • Serve the sweet potato fries immediately with your favorite dipping sauce: They're best when they're hot and crispy.
