1 cup sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg, separated
2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon water
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease bottom and sides of 15x10x1-inch pan with shortening. In large bowl, mix sugar, butter and egg yolk with spoon. Stir in flour and cinnamon. Press in pan.
  • Beat egg white and water until foamy; brush over dough. Sprinkle with nuts.
  • Bake 18 to 23 minutes or until very light brown. For bars, immediately cut into 7 rows by 6 rows. Cool in pan on wire rack, at least 30 minutes.

1 egg
1/2 lb butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 cup pecans, chopped

Steps:

  • Beat egg.
  • Combine next 5 ingredients, then beat in 1/2 of the beaten egg.
  • Stir flour until fluffy and gradually stir into butter/sugar mixture.
  • Stir in the nuts.
  • Press this dough into 13" X 10" greased pan and brush the other 1/2 of the egg on top.
  • Bake at 275 degrees for 1 hour.
  • Cool for 10 minutes and cut into even-sized bars.

1/4 cup butter, softened, divided
1/3 cup finely chopped pecans
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon baking powder

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat. Add pecans; cook and stir for 1 minute or until lightly toasted. Set aside., In a small bowl, cream confectioners' sugar and remaining butter. Combine the flour, cinnamon, salt and baking powder; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well (dough will be crumbly). Stir in pecans. , Pat into a 5-in. circle on an ungreased baking sheet.
