Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before starting, gather and measure all ingredients, and preheat the oven to the specified temperature. This will ensure a smooth and efficient baking process.
  • Room Temperature Ingredients: For best results, ensure that your butter, eggs, and milk are at room temperature. This allows them to incorporate more easily into the batter, resulting in a smoother and more consistent texture.
  • Proper Measuring: Use measuring cups and spoons specifically designed for cooking to ensure accurate measurements. Level off ingredients using a knife or straight edge to avoid overpacking, which can affect the outcome of the recipe.
  • Don't Overmix: When mixing the batter, be careful not to overmix it. Overmixing can result in a tough and dense texture. Mix just until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Baking Times: Keep an eye on the cake during baking. Ovens can vary in temperature, so adjust the baking time as needed. Use a toothpick or skewer inserted into the center of the cake to check for doneness. It should come out clean or with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Cooling and Frosting: Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting it. This will prevent the frosting from melting and sliding off the cake. For a smooth and even frosting application, chill the frosting slightly before spreading it over the cooled cake.
