CAROL'S CINNAMON WAFFLES

Carol's Cinnamon Waffles image

If you like those cinnamon waffles from the frozen food department of the grocery store, you'll love these! I developed this recipe because I don't care for syrup. Most waffles need the sweetness of syrup to make them special. These waffles are yummy just as they are; no syrup necessary! Whipped cream and fruit are a great addition if you want to go all out or just add butter and powder sugar to the top. These may brown quicker than standard waffles because of the sugar in them, so test the first one and adjust the time. I have also added 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed; you can't taste a difference. Enjoy!

CINNAMON BELGIAN WAFFLES

Cinnamon Belgian Waffles image

Make and share this Cinnamon Belgian Waffles recipe from Food.com.

Provided by Chef Gorete

Categories     Breakfast

Time 35m

Yield 8 Waffles

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs, separated
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup oil
2 cups milk

Steps:

  • Mix all of the dry ingredients together in a large bowl and whisk to blend, then set aside.
  • In a small bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  • In another bowl, add the egg yolks, vanilla, oil and milk, whisking slightly to combine.
  • Add the egg yolk mixture to the dry ingredients and beat until well mixed.
  • Fold in the egg whites just until combined.
  • Make waffles according to the machine instructions.

Tips:

  • Use fresh yeast: Fresh yeast is more active than dry yeast, and it will produce a lighter, fluffier waffle.
  • Proof the yeast: Proofing the yeast means allowing it to sit in warm water with a little sugar for a few minutes. This will help to activate the yeast and ensure that it is working properly.
  • Use a waffle iron that is hot and well-greased: This will help to prevent the waffles from sticking and will ensure that they are cooked evenly.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can make the waffles tough. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Cook the waffles until they are golden brown: This will ensure that the waffles are cooked through and that they have a crispy exterior.

Conclusion:

Cinnamon bun waffles are a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast treat. They are perfect for a weekend brunch or a special occasion. With a few simple ingredients and a little time, you can enjoy these delicious waffles right at home. So next time you are looking for a new breakfast recipe, give cinnamon bun waffles a try!
