1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Layer the above ingredients in a 1-quart jar. Mix 3 tablespoons sugar and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon and put into a small zip-top bag. Label the bag "Cinnamon Sugar Topping" and attach it to the outside of the jar.
  • 2. Attach the following recipe on a gift tag: Cinnamon Sugar Butter Cookies: Heat oven to 300 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, combine contents of jar with 1 cup softened salted butter, 2 large eggs and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Mix until well combined. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll each ball in Cinnamon Sugar Topping. Place on ungreased cookie sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake for 18-20 minutes. 1 jar(s) one batch sugar cookie dough made from sugar cookie gift in a jar
1/4 stick butter, melted
cinnamin
brown sugar
GLAZE INGREDIENTS
1 stick butter, room temperature
2 c confectioners' sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
milk if needed

Steps:

  • 1. Roll out sugar cookie dough into a large rectangle (flour your rolling surface to avoid stickage!)
  • 2. Lather with melted butter
  • 3. Sprinkle liberally with a layer of cinnamon Sprinkle liberally with a layer of brown sugar
  • 4. Roll up and wrap in foil or plastic wrap
  • 5. Chill for two hours (or place in freezer for 30 minutes)
  • 6. Slice cookies off roll and bake according to sugar cookie directions. (I found thin slices worked best).
  • 7. Drizzle with glaze & enjoy!

3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/3 cup sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons grated orange zest
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large egg, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
FILLING:
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
GLAZE:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 to 2 teaspoons water

Steps:

  • Cream first 5 ingredients until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour. On a baking sheet, roll dough between 2 sheets of waxed paper into a 12-in. square. Refrigerate 30 minutes., For filling, beat butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and vanilla. Add flour, cinnamon and salt; mix well. Remove top sheet of waxed paper; spread filling over dough to within 1/4 in. of edges. Using waxed paper, roll up tightly jelly-roll style, removing paper as you roll. Cover and freeze until firm, about 30 minutes., Preheat oven to 375°. Uncover and cut dough crosswise into 1/4-in. slices. Place 2 in. apart on parchment-lined baking sheets. Bake until edges are lightly browned, 10-12 minutes. Cool on pans 5 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool completely., For glaze, mix confectioners' sugar, corn syrup, vanilla and enough water to reach desired consistency. Spread or drizzle over cookies. Let stand at room temperature until set.

½ cup butter flavored shortening
1 cup light brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon salt
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup butter
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream together the 1/2 cup butter, shortening, light brown sugar and white sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time then stir in the vanilla. Combine the 1 tablespoon cinnamon, flour, baking powder and salt; stir into the creamed mixture. Cover and refrigerate dough for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small microwave safe dish, heat the 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup of butter and 2 teaspoons cinnamon in the microwave. Stir frequently until butter is melted and the mixture is well blended.
