CIDER CRANBERRY SAUCE

Cider Cranberry Sauce image

Original recipe was found in Family Fun magazine. (surprised by the number of excellent recipes in there!) I've basically halved it here. As stated by FF: "more personality and fresh flavor-with a whisper of apple" The pectin naturally found in apples helps the sauce to gel. Our family liked it very much.

Tips:

  • Use fresh cranberries: Fresh cranberries are tarter and more flavorful than frozen cranberries, and they will hold their shape better in the sauce.
  • Simmer the sauce until it thickens: The sauce should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. If it's too thin, continue to simmer it over low heat until it reaches the desired consistency.
  • Add sugar to taste: The amount of sugar you add to the sauce will depend on your personal preference. If you like a tart sauce, you can add less sugar. If you prefer a sweeter sauce, you can add more sugar.
  • Add spices to taste: You can add a variety of spices to the sauce, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. The spices will add a warm and festive flavor to the sauce.
  • Serve the sauce warm or cold: Cider cranberry sauce can be served warm or cold. It's a delicious addition to turkey, chicken, pork, or ham.

Conclusion:

Cider cranberry sauce is a delicious and easy-to-make condiment that's perfect for the holiday season. It's tart, sweet, and flavorful, and it can be served with a variety of dishes. Whether you're serving it warm or cold, cider cranberry sauce is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
