TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS CHEESE BALL

Traditional Christmas Cheese Ball image

I look forward to this simple, traditional cheese ball every year. It has been served during family Christmas Eve parties since before my time. The ingredients are few and inexpensive, and might be made year-round, but I reserve this one special appetizer for the holidays only to maintain its specialness. I love to serve Ritz crackers with the cheese ball to bring out its savory flavor.

CHRISTMAS, OR ANY TIME CHIPPED BEEF CHEESE BALL

Christmas, or Any Time Chipped Beef Cheese Ball image

I am terrible about not asking for a recipe, I was watching a girlfriend make this and i just remembered the ingredients. Not sure if i got the amounts right but I have fiddled with it for years and this seems the best. You could also cover it with nuts, or for a Daytona 500 party, I shaped it with a ring mold, covered it with finely chopped black olives and called it a Cheese Tire!

16 oz goat cheese, room temperature
¾ cup shelled pistachios, chopped
½ cup dried cranberries, plus more for garnish
1 tablespoon orange zest
1 sprig fresh rosemary, about 1 teaspoon
1 tablespoon maple syrup
½ teaspoon kosher salt

White Cheddar and Chive Cracker, or crackers of choice, for serving
Crudité, for serving

CHERRY / PINEAPPLE CHRISTMAS CHEESE-BALL

Cherry / Pineapple Christmas Cheese-ball image

Christmas seemed to be the same old recipes. I needed another Cheeseball to wow my guest. I found it by taking a few favorite fruits and incorporating them into a Festive Christmas Cheeseball! this simple yet, wow recipe makes a beautiful addition to your Christmas Holiday. Enjoy!

Provided by Linda Faye Lober

Categories     Fruit Appetizers

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 c maraschino cherries
1 can(s) pineapple tidbits
1 pkg philadelphia cream cheese
1 c coconut, shredded
1 pkg sliced almonds
1 box animal crackers
1 box graham crackers

Steps:

  • 1. soften cream cheese to room temperature, then mix by hand or with mixer
  • 2. add 1/2 cup drained, chopped maraschino cherries and gently stir
  • 3. add 1 small can pineapple tidbits (chopped finely) and drained
  • 4. Mix the above ingredients all together and form a ball. I like to allow enough time to leave in refrigerator overnight.
  • 5. When mixture is removed and thoroughly chilled form a nice cheese ball to then be rolled in your choice of coconut or sliced almonds. the preference is yours
  • 6. Serve the above cheeseball with your favorite cracker. I like to sit it on a Christmas dish surround by animal cracker (iced or plain) and or graham crackers! Enjoy

Tips:

  • Choose the right cream cheese. Full-fat cream cheese will give your cheese ball the best flavor and texture. If you use low-fat or non-fat cream cheese, your cheese ball will be less creamy and flavorful.
  • Soften your cream cheese to room temperature before using. This will make it easier to mix and will help to prevent lumps.
  • Use a variety of cheeses. This will give your cheese ball more flavor and texture. Some good options include cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese.
  • Add your favorite mix-ins. This is where you can get creative and make your cheese ball your own. Some popular mix-ins include bacon, nuts, dried fruit, and herbs.
  • Chill your cheese ball before serving. This will help it to firm up and will make it easier to cut and serve.

Conclusion:

Cheese balls are a delicious and easy appetizer that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, and holiday gatherings. With so many different variations to choose from, there is sure to be a cheese ball that everyone will love.
