CHOW MEIN - YOUR CHOICE OF MEAT

Chow Mein - Your Choice of Meat image

This is my recipe for Chow Mein. I can usually make this at a drop of the hat. If you have leftover meat from another meal, you can use it in place of the ground beef - about 2 cups of cooked meat. Also, if you use chicken, use chicken bouillon instead of beef. Most chow mein recipes have mushrooms, but I don't use them because of an allergy. This can be served with rice or chow mein noodles.

Tips:

  • Prep Your Ingredients: Before you start cooking, make sure all of your ingredients are prepped and measured. This will help you stay organized and ensure that you don't miss anything.
  • Use a Wok: A wok is the traditional cooking vessel for chow mein. It's a large, round-bottomed pan that allows for quick and even cooking.
  • Get Your Wok Hot: Before adding any ingredients, make sure your wok is very hot. This will help to prevent the noodles from sticking and will ensure that the meat and vegetables cook quickly.
  • Use a Variety of Vegetables: Chow mein is a great way to use up leftover vegetables. Some popular choices include broccoli, carrots, celery, onions, and bell peppers.
  • Don't Overcook the Noodles: Chow mein noodles should be cooked until they are just tender. Overcooked noodles will be mushy and unpleasant.
  • Add Sauce at the End: The sauce for chow mein is typically added at the end of the cooking process. This helps to prevent the noodles from becoming too soggy.
  • Serve Immediately: Chow mein is best served immediately after it's cooked. This will ensure that the noodles are still hot and crispy.

Conclusion:

Chow mein is a delicious and versatile dish that can be made with a variety of ingredients. By following these tips, you can make a perfect chow mein that your family and friends will love.
