A Gooseberry Patch recipe for a classic salad that can also serve as a meal. I am not a fan of bleu cheese, which the recipe calls for, so I would use almost any other kind of cheese on this. Also, I added chicken as an option for the turkey because chicken is easier to find. Enjoy!

  • Prep your ingredients in advance:Chop all your veggies, hard-boil your eggs, and cook your bacon ahead of time to save time when you're assembling your salad.
  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients:The better the quality of your ingredients, the better your salad will taste. Look for ripe tomatoes, crisp lettuce, and flavorful avocado.
  • Don't overcrowd the salad:Use a large bowl or platter to assemble your salad so that the ingredients have room to breathe. Overcrowding the salad will make it soggy and difficult to toss.
  • Dress the salad just before serving:This will help prevent the salad from getting soggy. You can either drizzle the dressing over the salad or toss it in a large bowl.
  • Serve the salad immediately:Chopped salads are best enjoyed fresh. If you need to make it ahead of time, assemble the salad but wait to add the dressing until just before serving.
