Time 55m

Yield 1 cake

Number Of Ingredients 11

3/4 cup sauerkraut, drained and chopped
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
3 eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Sift all dry ingredients together.
  • Cream sugar, butter and vanilla.
  • Beat eggs in one at a time.
  • Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with water.
  • Add sauerkraut mix thoroughly.
  • Pour into greased pan or pans.
  • Bake 30 to 40 minutes until cake tests done.
  • Frost.

Tips:

  • Follow the recipe carefully. This may seem obvious, but it's important to follow the recipe exactly, especially if you're new to baking. Don't substitute ingredients or change the measurements, as this could affect the outcome of the cake.
  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients. The better the quality of your ingredients, the better your cake will taste. Use fresh sauerkraut, not canned sauerkraut. And make sure your chocolate is good quality, such as semisweet or bittersweet chocolate.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter can make the cake tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. This is the best way to tell if the cake is done baking. The cake should start to pull away from the sides of the pan.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting it. This will help the frosting to set properly.

Conclusion:

Chocolate sauerkraut cake is a unique and delicious dessert that is sure to impress your friends and family. It's easy to make and can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. Whether you're serving it for a special occasion or just as a treat, chocolate sauerkraut cake is sure to be a hit.
