CHOCOLATE PRETZEL RING CANDIES
Such an easy & quick candy, nice for any holiday thanks to the variety of holiday colors m&m's come in. This comes from an old magazine - was it Taste of Home or Quick Cooking? I can't remember, but they sure are tasty & cute! While the recipe calls for small pretzel rings, you'll get equally great results with mini twists and even Rold Gold butter checker pretzels if available in your neck of the woods.

My parents were traveling north of the Mason-Dixon and bought a dozen or so bags and gave me one bag, all because of this magical recipe, which is on the back...

Tips:
- To make the pretzels easier to work with, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before shaping. You can also freeze the dough for up to 2 months.
- If you don't have a pretzel roller, you can use a rolling pin to flatten the dough. Just be sure to roll it out to a thickness of about 1/4 inch.
- Be careful not to overcook the pretzels. They should be golden brown and slightly puffed up. If you overcook them, they will become dry and hard.
- For a sweeter pretzel, brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before baking.
- For a more savory pretzel, brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with salt before baking.
- Pretzels are best served fresh, but they can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Conclusion:
Chocolate pretzel rings are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. They're perfect for parties, potlucks, or just a snack.
