Categories     Candy     Chocolate     Dessert     Simmer

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 10oz. package of marshmallows
1 1/8 cup peanut butter (creamy is best)
1/2 - 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
6 1/2 cup Cocoa Krispies
3 tbs butter/margarine

Steps:

  • 1. Measure out 6 cups of the Cocoa Krispies into a large bowl and set aside. Keep the last half cup ready to add when the main marshmallow mess is poured in. 2. Melt the butter in a saucepan (mine's 2 Qt. and seems to work fine). 3. Reduce heat to low and add the marshmallows, stirring occasionally. 4. When the mallows are about halfway melted, add the chocolate chips. Keep stirring. 5. When the mallows are nearly-melted tiny little blobs, add the peanut butter and yes, keep stirring. 6. Once, the gooey mixture is one solid color, remove it from the heat and pour over the large bowl of cereal. I find it helps to have an assistant to stir the cereal while you pour, making sure the cereal gets fully coated before it cools and congeals. Add the remaining half cup of cereal to any parts of the mix that are a little thin on cereal. 7. Mush the whole thing into a 9x13 pan and let it cool for at least 20 minutes. It's delicious warm, but won't keep its shape well.

REESES CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER RICE KRISPIE TREATS RECIPE - (4.5/5)

Reeses Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by jlwoodruff

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 cups Cocoa Krispies Cereal
16 to 18 Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, diced
5 tablespoons butter or margarin
3 tablespoons light karo syrup
1 package (10-ounce) plus 2 heaping cups miniature marshmallows
1/3 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine cereal and diced Reeses. Set aside. Spray a 9 x 13 inch pan with cooking spray and set aside. In a large pot melt butter over low heat. Add karo syrup and marshmallows and stir continuously until mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and add cereal mixture into the pot and fold together just until cereal is evenly coated. (Peanut butter cup pieces will fall apart as you fold together your ingredients, so don't over mix this.) Press mixture into the sprayed 9 x 13 in. pan. Set aside. In a small microwave safe bowl, add peanut butter. Microwave for 30 second to a minute to melt. Set aside to let cool slightly. In a separate small microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate at 30 second intervals, stir between intervals, until smooth. Set aside to let cool slightly. When peanut butter is cool enough to handle, transfer into a small zip lock bag. Clip a small piece out of the corner and pipe onto rice krispie treats, zig-zagging back and forth. Repeat steps with chocolate, placing in a small zip lock bag, and piping over the peanut butter. Either let treats sit at room temperature to allow chocolate to set up, or you can pop the pan into the fridge for about 5 minutes to speed up the process. Cut and serve.

Tips:

  • Use fresh marshmallows. Stale marshmallows will make your treats tough and chewy.
  • Don't overcook the marshmallows. Overcooked marshmallows will also make your treats tough and chewy.
  • Add the cereal and peanut butter to the marshmallow mixture while it is still hot. This will help the cereal and peanut butter to evenly coat the marshmallows.
  • Press the mixture firmly into the pan. This will help the treats to hold their shape.
  • Let the treats cool completely before cutting them. This will prevent them from crumbling.
  • Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature. They will keep for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

These Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. They are sure to be a hit with your family and friends. So next time you are looking for a sweet snack, give these treats a try. You won't be disappointed!
