Time 35m

Yield 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 apples (any baking apple will do we like the Honey Crisp)
1 teaspoon rolled oats
1 tablespoon almond butter or 1 tablespoon peanut butter, divided as you will be doing layers
1 tablespoon chocolate chips, divided as you will be doing layers

Steps:

  • Turn oven on to 355°F.
  • Wash and core apples using either a apple corer or a small pairing knife.
  • Stuff a few oats into the cored bottom of the apple, this will block the filling from draining out.
  • Stuff some nut butter into each apple; stuff in a few chocolate chips fallowed by some more nut butter and topping off with a few more chips.
  • Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, again this will depend on the size and type of apple you are using. They should be tender but still holding there shape.
  • Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose firm, tart apples that will hold their shape during baking, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  • Use unsweetened nut butter to keep the recipe refined sugar-free. If you don't have unsweetened nut butter, you can make your own by blending roasted nuts in a food processor until smooth.
  • Add a pinch of salt to the filling to enhance the sweetness of the apples and chocolate.
  • If you don't have maple syrup, you can use another liquid sweetener, such as honey, agave nectar, or brown rice syrup.
  • For a vegan version, use vegan chocolate chips and maple syrup.
  • Serve the baked apples warm with a scoop of yogurt or ice cream.

Conclusion:

These Chocolate Nut Butter Baked Apples are a delicious and healthy dessert that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are made with simple, wholesome ingredients and are naturally sweetened with maple syrup. The apples are baked until tender and the filling is gooey and chocolatey. Serve them warm with a scoop of yogurt or ice cream for a truly indulgent treat.
