Yield 4 Servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
1/3 cup unsalted butter, plus more for greasing the pans
1/4 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
2 large eggs
cocoa powder, for dusting

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 400F.
  • 2. Grease the inside of 4 8-ounce small ramekins with butter, dust with cocoa powder, and tap out any extra.
  • 3. Place the chocolate chips and butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30 second increments, stirring, until melted and smooth.
  • 4. Stir the sugar and flour into the chocolate mixture.
  • 5. Add in the eggs and mix until smooth.
  • 6. Pour the batter into the four cups, they should be about 1/2 full. Place the baking cups on a baking sheet.
  • 7. Bake for 16-18 minutes, until the top and edges are set, but center is still jiggly. Let cool slightly for 2-3 minutes. Be careful as ramekins may still be hot. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor. A semisweet or bittersweet chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 60% is ideal.
  • Make sure the butter and chocolate are melted smoothly and combined thoroughly before adding the eggs.
  • Do not overmix the batter. Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake.
  • Bake the cakes until the tops are just set and the centers are still molten. Overbaking will result in a dry, crumbly cake.
  • Let the cakes cool for a few minutes before serving. This will help them to set and prevent them from falling apart.

Conclusion:

Chocolate molten lava cakes are a delicious and impressive dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With a rich, chocolatey flavor and a molten center, these cakes are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. By following these tips, you can make perfect chocolate molten lava cakes every time.
