Time 1h

Yield Makes 20

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 cups finely ground cookies (12 ounces), such as graham crackers or chocolate wafers, or a combination
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup pecan pieces
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips or chunks
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly splash a 15-by-10-inch rimmed baking sheet evenly with water, then line with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, stir together cookie crumbs, sugar, and butter until combined. Evenly press onto bottom and up sides of prepared baking sheet. Bake, rotating halfway through, until firm, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack; cool, about 20 minutes.
  • Sprinkle cooled crust evenly with pecans and chocolate. Pour condensed milk over the top, spreading to cover completely (do not let it drip over the edges). Sprinkle with coconut.
  • Bake until coconut is toasted, 10 to 15 minutes. Transfer to rack; cool completely. Trim edges, if desired, and cut into equal-size bars.

HELLO DOLLIES

Hello Dollies image

Bar cookies are always brilliant, but these Hello Dollies are extra brilliant because salty Ritz crackers add balance to an otherwise strictly sweet treat.

Provided by Erin Renouf Mylroie

Number Of Ingredients 7

35 Ritz crackers smashed into small crumbs, plus 8 additional crackers, crushed, divided
¼ cup (57 g) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup (168 g) semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup (168 g) peanut butter or butterscotch baking chips
1 cup (109 g) chopped pecans, walnuts, or macadamia nuts
1 cup (186 g) sweetened shredded dried coconut
6 oz. (180 ml) sweetened condensed milk

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8 x 8-inch (20 x 20-cm)or 9 x 9-inch (23 x 23-cm) baking dish with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the crumbs from 35 smashed crackers and melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle the chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, nuts and coconut over the cracker layer. Drizzle the condensed milk over the top, trying to make it reasonably even. I use a spoon and slowly drizzle the milk, spoonful by slow spoonful. Sprinkle the remaining crushed crackers over the top of the milk.
  • Bake for about 25 minutes, or until the coconut is golden brown and the edges are nicely toasted. Let the bars cool for at least an hour. Cut into small triangles by first cutting 9 squares, the cutting each square in half on the diagonal to get 18 triangles.Store the bars in the fridge.

MAGIC COOKIE BARS

Magic Cookie Bars image

Coconut dream bars. Magic cookie bars. Hello Dolly bars. You've seen these classic treats at bake sales, holiday parties and potlucks over the years. But they tend to crumble when cut, thanks to a thin graham cracker crust. And, topped with gobs of super-sweet shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk and semisweet chocolate, they have a cloying bite that may be too much for even the sweetest tooth. This version starts with a thicker graham cracker cookie base. It's baked with an egg, a bit of brown sugar and some leavener, which makes it pleasantly dense and chewy and means that it cuts nicely and stands up well to the decadent toppings. Next, unsweetened flaked coconut and dark chocolate are layered with plenty of chopped pecans and condensed milk. The slightly bitter chocolate and toasty coconut tame the sweetness of the condensed milk, which caramelizes as it cooks, making the whole package well-balanced and full of flavor.

Time 1h

Yield 15 bars

Number Of Ingredients 10

6 tablespoons/85 grams unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly, more for greasing the pan
20 graham crackers (about 310 grams)
1/4 cup/50 grams packed light or dark brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 large egg
1 14-ounce/397 gram can sweetened condensed milk
8 ounces/227 grams chopped bittersweet chocolate (1 1/2 cups)
1 cup/110 grams chopped pecans
2 cups/114 grams unsweetened flaked coconut

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 13- by 9-inch baking pan. Line it with parchment, leaving a 2-inch overhang on two sides.
  • In a food processor, process the graham crackers until finely ground. (You should have about 2 3/4 cups.) Add brown sugar, baking powder and salt and pulse to combine. While machine is running, add butter and egg and process until the crumbs are completely moistened and large clumps have formed.
  • Tip the graham cracker mixture out into the prepared pan. Crumble the mixture to divide it evenly across the bottom of the pan, then use your fingers to spread it out into an even layer, lightly pressing it into the pan. Bake the crust until it is set and dry, about 15 minutes.
  • Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crust and spread it out into an even layer. Sprinkle half the chocolate and half the pecans evenly over the surface. Sprinkle the coconut on in an even layer. Then sprinkle the remaining chocolate and nuts evenly over the top.
  • Bake until toppings are evenly golden brown, about 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool in the pan on a wire rack. To serve, lift the bar out of the pan using the parchment overhang, transfer it to a cutting board and cut into 15 bars.

This bar is so yummy!!!!!!!!!

Provided by Jamallah Bergman

Categories     Chocolate

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pkg devil's food cake mix with pudding
8 Tbsp (1 stick) butter, at room temp, cut into 8 pieces
1 c butterscotch chips
1 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c sweetened flaked coconut
1 c chopped pecans or walnuts
1 can(s) sweetened condensed milk

Steps:

  • 1. Place a rack in the center of the oven and preheat oven to 350. Set aside an ungreased 15x10 inch jelly roll pan.
  • 2. Place the cake mix and butter in a large mixing bowl. Cut the butter into the cake mix with two knives or a pastry blender until the mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle the mixture over the bottom of the jelly roll pan and press into the pan with your fingertips to form a crust.
  • 3. Sprinkle the top of the crust evenly with the butterscotch chips, chocolate chips, coconut and nuts. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over all the ingredients. Place the pan in the oven.
  • 4. Bake the bars until they are lightly browned and bubbly all over, 25 to 30 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and place it on a rack to cool for 30 minutes. Cut into bars.
  • 5. Store these bars, covered in plastic wrap or foil at room temp for up to 5 days. Or freeze them, wrapped in foil for up to 6 months. Thaw the bars overnight on the counter before serving.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use high-quality chocolate. A good quality chocolate will have a smooth, rich flavor and will melt evenly.
  • Make sure the butter and eggs are at room temperature before you start baking. This will help the ingredients to blend together more easily and will result in a smoother batter.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the cookies tough.
  • Bake the cookies until they are just set. Overbaking will make them dry and crumbly.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before you frost them. This will help to prevent the frosting from melting.

Conclusion:

Chocolate Hello Dollies are a classic cookie that is perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and always a hit with everyone who tries them. With a few simple tips, you can make sure that your Chocolate Hello Dollies turn out perfect every time.
