CHOCOLATE-HAZELNUT BREAD PUDDING

Chocolate-Hazelnut Bread Pudding image

From Cooking Light Magazine. Vanilla low-fat ice cream melts over the warm bread pudding to form a sauce. If you have whole hazelnuts, toast them at 350 degrees F. for 8-10 minutes, or until the skins are loosened. To rub off the papery skins, roll the nuts in a clean dish towel. Then chop as needed. Prep time does not include chill time.

Tips:

  • To achieve a smooth and lump-free pudding mixture, whisk the cocoa powder and sugar together in a bowl before gradually whisking in the milk. This will help to prevent any clumps from forming.
  • Make sure to use good quality chocolate for the best flavor. A chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70% is ideal.
  • If you don't have hazelnut extract, you can use vanilla extract instead. However, hazelnut extract will give the puddings a more pronounced hazelnut flavor.
  • Be careful not to overcook the puddings. They should be cooked just until they are set, otherwise they will become tough.
  • Serve the puddings immediately or chill them for later. They can be served with a dollop of whipped cream, a scoop of ice cream, or a sprinkling of chopped hazelnuts.

Conclusion:

These chocolate hazelnut puddings are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. They are creamy, chocolatey, and have a lovely hazelnut flavor. The puddings can be served immediately or chilled for later. They are also a great make-ahead dessert, as they can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
