DIFFERENT CHOCOLATE HAYSTACKS
I went through all the haystack recipes on zaar and did not see these. They are a little different as they don't use the chow mein noodles. They are easy and too good to leave off. I want to try these with dry roasted peanuts and maybe butter instead of the peanut butter just for a change, there is something about the sweet and salty that makes you keep eating them. This too came out of my Texas cookbook. I don't remember how many these make so I took a wild guess.

CHOCOLATE HAYSTACKS
Steps:
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, cook chocolate and butterscotch chips on high for two min. or until chocolate is almost melted, stirring halfway through heating time. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Stir in noodles, peanuts, and marshmalllows until completely covered with chocolate mixture. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto wax paper-lined tray. Refrigerate one hour or until firm. Store in airtight container in refrigerator. Haystacks may be decorated with minature candy-coated semisweet chocolate candies for baking to create eyes or designs.
Tips:
- Choose the right chocolate. For the best flavor, use a high-quality semisweet or bittersweet chocolate.
- Toast the coconut. Toasting the coconut brings out its natural flavor and makes it more fragrant.
- Use fresh butter. Fresh butter will give your haystacks a richer flavor than margarine or butter substitutes.
- Don't overcook the haystacks. The centers should be soft and chewy, not hard and brittle.
- Let the haystacks cool completely before dipping them in chocolate. This will help the chocolate to set properly.
- Be creative with your toppings. You can use chopped nuts, sprinkles, or even crushed candy canes to decorate your haystacks.
Conclusion:
Chocolate haystacks are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. They are made with just a few simple ingredients and can be customized to your liking. Whether you like them plain or topped with your favorite nuts or candy, chocolate haystacks are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
