CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE WALNUT BARS

Chocolate Cream Cheese Walnut Bars image

This recipe has been changed from a basic cheesecake bar. I turned it into a chocolate cheesecake bar with a walnut crumb topping. The original recipe was taken from an old church cookbook from the 70s or 80s. They are full of chocolatey goodness. Give these bars a try. I'm sure you'll like them. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor. This means using real butter, cream cheese, and chocolate, not margarine, Neufchâtel cheese, or chocolate chips.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature before you start mixing it. This will help it cream together smoothly with the butter and sugar.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the bars tough.
  • Press the dough into the pan firmly and evenly. This will help the bars hold together well.
