Time 2h30m

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 medium ripe but firm bananas
8 wooden craft sticks
3 tablespoons finely chopped lightly salted peanuts
6 ounces good quality dark chocolate (60 to 70 percent cocoa solids), chopped

Steps:

  • Peel, then cut each banana in half crosswise and insert a craft stick into each half. Place on a tray, cover with plastic wrap and place in the freezer until frozen, about 3 hours.
  • Place the peanuts in a shallow dish or on a plate. Melt the chocolate in the top of a double boiler over slightly simmering water, over the lowest possible heat, stirring frequently. Make sure the water is not touching the bottom of the top pan. Pour the melted chocolate into a tall glass. Dip each frozen banana into the chocolate, turning it to coat, and immediately roll in the peanuts. Place on a tray covered in waxed paper. Serve immediately or wrap individually in plastic wrap or waxed paper and freeze for up to 2 weeks.

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 ripe bananas
9 wooden ice cream sticks or skewers
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tbs butter
1-1/2 cups coarsely chopped, unsalted, roasted peanuts (optional)

Steps:

  • Peel bananas, cut each into thirds and insert wooden stick into each banana piece, and place on wax paper covered tray cover. Cover. Freeze until firm. In top of double boiler over hot water(not boiling), melt chocolate chips and shortening. Remove bananas from freezer just before dipping. Dip each piece into chocolate mix covering completely and roll in peanuts. Cover and return to freezer.

Tips:

  • For a smoother chocolate coating, melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave in short intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted.
  • To prevent the chocolate from seizing, avoid adding water or other liquids to it while melting.
  • If you want a thicker chocolate coating, dip the bananas in the melted chocolate twice, allowing the first layer to set before dipping them a second time.
  • To decorate the chocolate-covered bananas, you can use sprinkles, chopped nuts, or even edible glitter.
  • For a fun twist, try drizzling the chocolate-covered bananas with melted white chocolate or caramel sauce.
  • If you are using wooden popsicle sticks, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before inserting them into the bananas. This will help to prevent the sticks from splitting.
  • To make the chocolate-covered bananas even more decadent, you can fill them with peanut butter, Nutella, or your favorite ice cream before dipping them in chocolate.

Conclusion:

Chocolate-covered banana pops are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. They are great for parties, potlucks, or as a simple snack. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious treat that everyone will love.
