At our church; we feed the families who have lost a loved one in our church.One of our ladies brought this. I've never had one. It was delicious!!

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 stick butter or margarine
3 c water
3 c sugar
1 1/2 c sr flour
3/4 c milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
9 tsp cocoa powder

Steps:

  • 1. Pre-heat oven @ 350
  • 2. In the oven put a 9x13 cake pan with the stick of butter to be melted.
  • 3. In a sauce pan put the 3 cups of water and bring to a boil.
  • 4. Bowl # 1: 1 1/2 cup of sugar..1 1/2 cup self rising flour...3/4 cup milk...vanilla. Mix all together.
  • 5. Bowl # 2: 1 1/2 cups sugar....9 teaspoons coco powder...Mix
  • 6. Pour flour mixture over the melted butter....Sprinkle coco and sugar over the top. Then pour the 3 cups of boiling water over the top.
  • 7. bake @ 350 for 35-40 min.

2 stick butter
1 1/4 c sugar
1 1/2 c self-rising flour
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 c milk
CHOCOLATE LAYER
1 c sugar
6 Tbsp cocoa powder
2 c boiling water

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350. In a 9x13 glass baking dish, melt the two sticks of butter in the oven for 5 minutes.
  • 2. Meanwhile in a bowl, mix together the 1 1/4 cups of sugar, flour, vanilla, and milk.
  • 3. Once the butter is melted, pour the batter over the butter, but do not stir.
  • 4. In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa and remaining sugar.
  • 5. Sprinkle cocoa/sugar mixture on top of batter. Do not stir.
  • 6. Pour the 2 cups of boiling water on top of that (don't stir).
  • 7. Bake for 40-45 minutes. I bake mine until I have a nice golden brown crust.
  • 8. Serve warm. Great with ice cream.

1 cup self-rising flour
¾ cup white sugar
1 ½ tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup white sugar
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 ½ cups boiling water

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Melt butter in an 8x8 inch baking dish while the oven preheats.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth. Spoon this batter over the melted butter in the baking dish.

1/2 cup whole milk
