Tips:

  • Prep your baking pan by lining it with parchment paper. This makes cleanup easier, prevents sticking, and ensures your meringue bars come out intact.
  • For the perfect chewy meringue, beat the egg whites and sugar until stiff peaks form. This means they should hold their shape when you lift the whisk or beater out of the bowl.
  • Make sure your chocolate chips are evenly distributed throughout the meringue mixture before baking. You can do this by gently folding them in with a spatula.
  • Bake the meringue bars at a low temperature (250°F) for a longer period of time (about an hour). This helps them dry out and set without overcooking.
  • Let the meringue bars cool completely before cutting them into bars. This will help them hold their shape and prevent them from crumbling.

Conclusion:

These chocolate chip meringue bars are a delightful treat that is perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make, and the combination of chewy meringue and rich chocolate chips is sure to please everyone. Whether you are a seasoned baker or a beginner, give this recipe a try and enjoy the delicious results.
